I have to say that it's tiresome seeing/reading about Christians "saving" orphans. For me, adoption has never been about "saving" a child. I am not trying to score some points with God. I just wanted to be a mom again.
I have never lost sight that my joy came from pain and loss.
I get it.
Let's face it though... there are children in this world who DO need help. They do "need you" as the video displays. Is it a Godly thing to do... helping a child in need? I think so. Should it be the reason to adopt a child? Absolutely not.
I have attended adoption conferences, read countless books, belong to a host of online adoption forums, and happen to be married to someone who was adopted.
I understand that the idea of "saving" a child implies that the child should feel grateful and dismisses the loss that they may feel. That makes my skin crawl. I pray that my daughter never feels that way. That is not what we are about. I didn't think that this video perpetuated this idea but maybe it does.
Anonymous, you have it all wrong. So you are tired of Christians "saving" orphans...that stantment makes me laugh. I'm so happy this world is filled with kind, loving, big hearted people that want to love, help and care for children in need than someone that just can't be bothered. The only thing that should be "ignored" and not "bothered" with is people like you. Nonna
